THE ROCK RECREATION GROUND

Public BBQ

A community-run free camp on the recreation ground at The Rock, with a gold-coin donation as the tariff and a three-day limit. It is quiet, clean and grassy, with plenty of level room for vans of any size, hot showers, toilets, fresh water behind the toilet block, bins and a dump point. The toilets sit up near the pavilion where the tanks and hot water service are, so a spot at the far end means a walk. A creek runs alongside but is on private land and cannot be reached. Game days bring noise, with music running late. The town is a short stroll: supermarket, butcher, coffee, post office, a bowls club doing cheap lunches midweek and a pub out on the highway. The Rock itself is about 3 km away.
